Today, we make physical fitness a priority. Science has proven that staying active increases our chances of living longer, healthier lives.
Mental fitness – best achieved through mindfulness training – has come a long way. Science suggests that meditation and heightened awareness increase our lifespan, decrease our diseasespan, and allow us to keep stress in check.
The time is now to promote whole body fitness. Introducing a powerful mindfulness training option, for the health-conscious community of the SF Peninsula.
San Mateo Athletic Club (on the College of San Mateo campus) is a premier fitness facility that recognizes the WHOLE PERSON approach to fitness and well-being.
Mindful U was created by Certified MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) Educator, Cassie Schindler. Mindful U is based on the foundations, principals and learning model of the flagship MBSR Course@UMASS Medical School/Center for Mindfulness.

COURSE INFO: MINDFUL U – 6 Progressive Modules
The following training option is designed to guide, empower and support participants in the skillful cultivation of mindful awareness for personal/professional growth and overall well-being.
Participants receive 3 playing cards each week to illustrate the core concepts of the current session, and outline suggested home practices that reinforce learning, and in turn, create new, healthy behaviors.
Students are given a journal and asked to record their in-the-moment impressions of in-class prompts, as well as challenges or triumphs experienced throughout the course (both contribute to group discussion – if appropriate).
Each 1.5 hour session includes small and large group discussion, brief didactic and one or more formal meditation practice.
CLASS DATES/TIMES: Wednesdays, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, (NO CLASS 2/14) and final class on 2/21. Sessions will begin promptly at 6:30pm and end at 8:00pm EXCEPT for Session #1, which will run slightly longer to include a course orientation.
Mindful U 6-week Course@San Mateo Athletic Club
Six consecutive mindfulness training modules (1.5 hrs/ea) beginning 1/10/18 thru 2/21 (6:30-8:00pm). There will be NO CLASS ON 2/14. Cost includes course materials and audio practice recordings.
CANCELLATION POLICY: The Alternate Path/Cassie Schindler has a no refund policy. If for any reason you must cancel your registration, you will be issued a credit that may be applied to a future event, course or class.
